Welcome to this week’s update.
The broccoli and cabbage are doing well. I believe that all 12 soil blocks that I planted cabbage in have come up. The broccoli didn’t do quite as well. I have 3 or 4 blocks that did not sprout. On the other hand, all the plants that came up have their first true leaves. I have several blocks with more than 1 plant growing in it, so I will have to cull some of the plants. I will base my decision of which will go on to be part of my garden strictly by how they look. I find that when 2 plants come up, one of them is obviously stronger than the other. I’ll cut the weaker plant off at the soil. Do not pull the weak plant up, the roots are intertwined with the other plant and will damage the roots of the stronger plant.
I cleaned out the camper on Sunday. We pulled it out from under the car port and opened it up. There were a lot of stink bugs in there. I probably killed several hundred of them. But that’s a lot less than we killed when we opened it up at the beginning of the Winter. We took everything out of the cabinets and brought them in the house to clean them up. I never realized how much stuff we had in the camper. I will be listing the popup for sale in the next couple of weeks. We are upgrading to a hybrid camper. I’ll talk about that more over on the Camping with Fritz blog once we pick up the new camper. I plan on writing up a full review of it.
That’s about all I have for this week. I was supposed to plant Brussels sprouts and peppers this weekend. I didn’t have the time to get that done. I’ll plant these some time this week.
Thanks for reading, what did you do on your homestead this week?

Fritz- what is your make up on soil cubes? Those sprouts look healthy.
Rook
Here’s what I use:
3 buckets peat
2 buckets Vermiculite
1/2 cup lime
~3 cups fertilizer
1 bucket top soil
2 buckets compost
Here’s a link to the write up I did about them last year.
